Wa indigenous dance is located in the rainforest of South East Yunnan, China. a special and unique dance style because they use their hair to dance. The movements are grounded and big with wooden drum percussion. It is very energetic and powerful.
Artist Bio
Emily Cheung is an Artistic Director of Little Pear Garden Dance Company in Toronto. www.littlepeargarden.com. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance (B.F.A.), Master in Dance (M.A.) and Bachelor of Education in Dance (B.Ed) at York University. She grew up with R.A.D. training and was invited a scholarship to study ballet in London, England. She went to Beijing Dance Academy for training majoring in Classical Chinese dance. She also taught dance since 16. Emily has been constantly invited to give academic talks and workshops to graduate university students, undergrads and highs school students. In May 2017, she received an award for Canada 150 being recognized one of the 15 candidates in Voices of Chinese Canadian Women for her contributions to building a strong community. In August 2017, Emily will be celebrating her 10th years of her career as Artistic Director for Little Pear Garden Dance Company.
