Workshop Description
Dancers will work collaboratively to co-create, under David's direction, a piece that is inspired by the architecture, logic and textures of the performance site.
Artist Bio
David Norsworthy, a Toronto-born dance artist and entrepreneur, graduated from the Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May 2013. Over the past few years, he has had the honor of dancing works of Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, Paul Taylor and José Limón. He has been privileged to perform and tour with Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (Toronto, Canada), Camille A. Brown and Dancers (NY, USA), Dancenorth (Melbourne, Australia), ZviDance (NY, USA), Jonah Bokaer (NY, USA), Brian Brooks Moving Co (NY, USA), Skånes Dansteater (Malmö, Sweden), Magma Dans (Stockholm, Sweden) and Andersson Dance (Stockholm, Sweden). He has presented his choreography at the Dumbo Dance Festival and Wave Rising Series (New York) as well as the Juilliard-in-Aiken Festival (South Carolina) and ArtPowersArusha (Tanzania). Teaching highlights include a master class for the performers of Billy Elliot on Broadway, a creative brainstorming workshop at the US Naval College and an arts empowerment workshop for disadvantaged youth at the Umoja Youth Centre in Tanzania, Africa. He has been featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine, Dance Canada Quarterly, Dance Current and USA Today College. In 2015, the NY Times described David as "intense... yet vulnerable". He is the founder of FRESH Dance Intensive (freshdanceintensive.com), the co-founder of TOES FOR DANCE (toesfordance.ca) and serves on the Advisory Boards of Springboard Danse Montreal and OnSite NYC.
